Its key responsibilities include maintaining a suitable accounting system, preparing the budget and financial reports, managing assets, and organizing general meetings. It also informs members about the Society’s activities and finances, oversees member admissions and exclusions, maintains the membership list, manages staff employment, and documents board meetings. Additionally, the Board consults with the Scientific Advisory Committee, considers its recommendations, and communicates decisions back in writing

The auditors then report their findings to the General Assembly, confirming whether the accounting is correct and funds were used appropriately, or highlighting any deficiencies or risks. They must also disclose any internal transactions and unusual income or expenditures.

It also oversees the establishment of the Scientific Advisory Committee, sets membership fees, approves the annual budget, and authorizes legal transactions involving board members or auditors. Additionally, the Assembly decides on amendments to the Articles of Society, potential dissolution of the Society, and other significant organizational matters. It also has the authority to confer or revoke honorary memberships.
