The association aims to establish a scientific society to connect the global community of individuals working in or applying bio-image analysis. The community of bioimage analysis is heterogeneous and growing: bioimage analysts, software developers, life scientists, biologists, physicists, bioinformaticians, research software engineers, microscopists are part of this community. The wide spectrum of their backgrounds brings valuable information and experiences into the community from all directions in science and engineering, towards the goal of "measuring biological systems through image data". The association serves to promote international relations, knowledge exchange and collaboration between the different members of the community and pursues advancement of scientific collaboration and advancement of methods and tools for image analysis in biological research.
GloBIAS endeavours to connect professionals in the field of the Bioimage Analysis domain, whether in academia or industry by facilitating dialogue and collaboration among all people working within the field of BioImage Analysis, whether applying, developing, teaching and training or implementing BioImage Analysis tools and infrastructure.
Central to GloBIAS's objectives is the collaborative creation and upkeep of educational resources catering for diverse proficiency levels, the establishment and upkeep of standards relevant to bioimage analysis, and addressing emerging common issues within the field.
